More from the Millennium
Writer
Volume 1
by Damainion Ewell
As time evolves, it is inevitable that life’s most precious gifts will be taken for granted. The values of yesteryear are not the same values that people embrace today. Modern conveniences have subtly and suddenly taken “the life” out of life. Our society has done away with simplistic ideas such as hard work, dedication, education, and basic honesty. These attributes have become as archaic as rotary phones and analog pagers.
The minute that our society began to turn its collective back on love, we were in trouble. What is love? By definition, Love is: “a deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.”
Regrettably, in this writer’s opinion, the dictionary does not give “Love” the attention it deserves. One may be inclined to argue: every person that has ever existed may have “his or her own” definition of what love truly means. The very mention of the word can often stir emotions that we never knew existed. Unfortunately, “Love” in its purist sense, may possibly elevate to levels unknown to and beyond human perspective. One detail, I believe, we all embrace is that; love has the strength to pick us up, and the power to carry us forward.
Allow this humble man to share his definition with you:
Some may say: in order to love, men need to “get in touch with their feminine side”… WRONG!!! Love is neither feminine nor masculine. Love is, simply and wholly, LOVE. And though I am, by no stretch of my imagination, the authority on this matter… I do know that Love can hit you like a two-sided tidal wave in the middle of a nuclear blast.
Love is the look in your eyes, an emotion, an experience that is unmatched by anything tangible. Love is an imagination secured in reality. Love is all consuming and incapable of overindulgence. It can kiss “the pain” away and bring warmth to the coldest night.
Love is a classic Rick James and Teena Marie duet. Love is a collective agreement without the bargaining. Love is the tear that comes from joy. Love is waking up in the morning with a renewed perspective. Love is: untouchable, undeniable, undisputable, and unconquerable. Love is the vast amount of beauty that can be found in a world mired in ugly. It is the question, the answer, and the solution.
With love, there is no second-guessing, no thought of insecurity or feeling of doubt. With love, there is no craving that cannot be overcome and no trial that cannot be won. With love, there is no hunger that cannot be fed or wound that cannot be healed. With love, the end never comes and everything good is forever.
Without the presence of love, can we ever be rinsed cleanly of our misgivings? Without the wholeness of love, will our spirit stumble through its journey in a fragmented mess? Without the goodness of love, will each and every endeavor we undertake return dividends that are sure to disappoint? Without the foundation of love, can the soul truly to exist?
What our society has yet to understand is that love cannot be eulogized. Love is immortal, cathartic, adventurous, and sometimes tumultuous. It is the essence of our fiber, the voice within our hearts, and the clear answer to all of the world’s ills. You may travel to the farthest corners of Earth, and wherever your travels take you… love will be hot on your trail.
